Officials said a car meetup caused a hefty amount of damage to a popular park in Yonkers.
Police said it happened over three weeks ago when people from the Bronx showed up at JFK Marina. Drivers were seen in a social media video doing donuts and destroying the grass.
City officials said the damage cost about $10,000.
Residents who enjoyed the park seemed pretty upset about it.
"I don't want to see no guy come in and rip up the park with no car," said a resident named Roy.
"It's a beautiful park to come to," said a resident named Dave.
Police said Muhamed Alsaedi, 30, and Abaas Alsaedi, 21, were charged with 2nd degree criminal mischief in connection with the event.
Police said they were able to identify and arrest them, and impound their cars, because content from the car meetup was posted on social media.
Police and Mayor Mike Spano have since reused parts of the driver's posts to warn others not to attempt this crime.
"You're not gonna do that. Not up in here. Not in Yonkers," Spano said.
City officials said it's unclear when the damage will be repaired because they need to shut down the area to do the work.
