Brownsville has been awarded $600,000 in federal funds to help improve public safety.
The Department of Justice announced this week that the neighborhood is among 15 locations nationwide to receive a portion of more than $11 million in award money to help combat increasing crime.
Brownsville is the only New York City location to receive the funding.
