A Brownsville native has knocked out cancer to make a comeback in boxing.
Danny Jacobs was told by doctors last year that his boxing days were over after being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a cancerous tumor on his spine. The 25-year-old says what started as tingling in his legs grew quickly, putting him in a wheelchair during a span of about two weeks.
Surgeons cut out the tumor just in time and Jacobs fought on through radiation and rehab to get back in the ring. A now cancer-free Jacobs will be among the boxers who fight it out at the Barclays Center on Saturday.
