A Brooklyn church known for helping its neighbors is asking for some assistance with a construction issue.
Faith, Hope and Charity House of God in Brownsville began construction last winter to fix a crack in the church's wall. However, the church ran out of money to finish the construction, resulting in an unfinished sanctuary.
Church leaders say it's been nearly impossible to have services at the church in its current condition.
Despite these hardships, the church still gives back, hosting weekly giveaways of school supplies, diapers, clothes, masks and more.
The church's bishop says they don't want to burden their members with helping with repairs.
"We don't really want to receive any financial support in that manner, but maybe there's a company that can come in and just help us out,” says Bishop Willie Billips. “All we want to do is serve, but we want to be in a position where we can open the doors wide open and say come on back in, community.”
The church says any support would be appreciated so they can get back to doing the work they feel called to do.
