Brownsville man reunited with NYPD officers who saved his life
A Brownsville man was reunited Tuesday with two NYPD officers who saved his life back in January.
The officers rushed into a bodega on Jan. 28 after being flagged down by someone on the street to help Donald Daley, 73, who was suffering from a heart attack.
Daley had no pulse and was lying on the floor. Officer Krstelyn Aponte began chest compressions while Becides Medina ran to their car to get a defibulator.
Daley, a father of five, says the quick actions of the officers along with other first responders helped saved him.
He says he'd been wanting to thank the officers for their heroic actions. Aponte and Medina, who are from the 77th Precinct, were honored as officers of the month at patrol borough Brooklyn North.
Daley made his way across the room to surprise the officers. Aponte and Medina admitted they were terrified walking into that situation, but knew moments like that were what they trained for.
Daley says he's grateful, especially as he prepares to celebrate his 74th birthday.
