Brownsville native and Poly Prep alum Brian Flores has been named the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Flores says that this is a great opportunity to himself and his family, and he wants to make the Dolphins and the community proud.
Longtime friend and former high school teammate Chris Legree Jr. says he was with Flores on Super Bowl weekend celebrating Sunday’s win.
“Our neighborhood's not the greatest, we got really good people, but there's a lot of bad things that happen as well,” says Legree. “To see somebody come from where we come from and to walk on the sidelines of an NFL organization as a head coach is incredible.”
Flores has been working his way up the ranks for almost two decades with the New England Patriots.
Legree says he takes pride in not only his friend's accomplishments, but the example it sets for the next generation.
