A bloody attack on a Jewish teen in Crown Heights is uniting the neighborhood?s diverse groups to rally against violence Wednesday.
Community members say the most recent attack took place Sunday around 9:30 p.m. on Carol Street. They say five to eight African-American males surrounded a 16-year-old Jewish boy and beat him up. According to paramedics, he suffered a broken nose and cuts to his face. His eyes were also swollen shut. Police arrested three people, but say they are not investigating the incident as a hate crime.
Jews, African-Americans and West Indians plan to rally near Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue to highlight the problem.
