A buddy bench was named in honor of a 12-year-old Marine Park girl who died in February from a form of bone cancer.

Family members of Gianna Gambino unveiled the buddy bench at her school. It is meant to be a place where students can sit to make new friends.

Gianna touched the hearts of many, including her teachers.

"Becoming a dad made me realize how much I learned from Gianna, and without even knowing it, she prepared me to become a dad to a baby girl," says Tim Crockett, Gianna's physical education teacher at P.S. 222.

Gianna would have turned 13 years old this year.
