A new 23-acre green space has opened in Sunset Park.
The Parks Department held the ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday for Bush Terminal Piers Park, which opened last week and offers waterfront views.
The park sits on a former landfill site and was designed with sustainability in mind. It features two synthetic turf fields, an open land area, a pier, and restrooms made from used shipping containers.
The park was funded with $40 million of city, state and federal funds.
Bush Terminal Piers Park is open daily from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
