Tong restaurant in Bushwick says this year's Restaurant Week may be its last - unless the city can update the prix fixe prices which have remained flat since 2022. "We do not regret it, we view it as an advertisement for our business, but we need a change. If the city can help at all, that would mean so much," said owner Pat Derry, reflecting on their latest Restaurant Week sales numbers. "We saw about a 15% boost compared to before, but with around $900 fee, and then the prices, we have to think how much are we do we lose how much do we gain." "Three years ago, we made more than this year because now everything, everything gone up - our food costs, labor costs everything up a lot." Derry says her restaurant was experimenting during Restaurant Week, and had accepted that they would operate on a smaller margin. She says just a small bump in the prix fixe price would give her restaurants more flexibility. Tong was the only restaurant in Bushwick to participate in the winter 2025 event, per the NYC Tourism website. Derry tells News 12 a small hike in price would give her, and she believes others, more breathing room in setting a menu without razor-thin margins. Current prices for Restaurant Week are $30 for lunch, and an option of $45 or $60 for dinner. In a statement to News 12 NYC Tourism said "We want restaurants to participate in a way that makes the most sense for their business. The purpose of Restaurant Week is to boost traffic and increase sales to participating restaurants citywide during historically slow periods (January/Feb and mid-summer)." It added that no decision has been reached on the price points for future Restaurant Week events, including summer of 2025 and winter 2026.
