A broken mailbox at the Butler Houses in Claremont is causing a huge headache for tenants. One resident said she has to spend money out of her fixed income just to pick up her mail from the post office.

"I’m disabled, so I’m on SSI. I’m on disability," said Gloria Wright. "And me spending that extra $20 twice a month is kind of hard."

Wright said she has been complaining about the broken mailbox since late April but she keeps getting the runaround.

"You go to management, they tell you it’s the post office's job to fix it," said Wright. "You go in to post office, they told me a few times management is supposed to fix it."

A spokesperson from the post office told News 12 it's the responsibility of building management to make necessary repairs so that they can resume regular delivery. NYCHA said they're in the process of contracting a vendor to repair it.
