One Bronx councilman is taking residents' concerns about idling trucks all the way to the state government.
Councilman Jim Vacca is calling on state officials to increase fines for trucks that illegally idle in residential areas of the Bronx. Residents along Story Avenue say the problem extends from Soundview all the way to Castle Hill. One Bronx mom says she is worried for the health of her three children. Residents say the trucks that pass through the area sometimes sit idle for up to 45 minutes.
One resident who has been tracking the problem for two years, created a 40-page report that details the times, dates and license plates of trucks operating illegally. That report has been submitted to the City Council.
