A Bronx councilman is among several elected officials pushing the MTA to adopt a subway grading system.
Councilman James Vacca (D-The Bronx) wants to apply the city's restaurant letter grades for sanitation to the rails in an effort to hold MTA officials accountable for cleanliness.
Not everyone is on board with the proposal, including the MTA. Chairman Joseph Lhota said in a statement, "This is another unfunded mandate that would unnecessarily burden the MTA with increased costs when our financial condition is fragile."
