City, state and federal officials announced Monday that New York City will receive more than $260 million in federal transportation funding to cover some of the costs of major projects in the Bronx.

The money, which was allocated to New York City from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will help pay for transportation projects in the Bronx that were long put on hold due to lack of funding. The projects are expected to create thousands of jobs, develop the local economy and improve transportation.

Included in the to-do list of work are greenway spaces in Hunts Point, road repairs throughout the borough, improvements to specific spots, like the Hugh Grant Circle transportation hub, and renovations on bridges and overpasses on many main Bronx roads.

Bronx officials have not yet determined when the construction work will commence.
