A Bronx man is under arrest for setting a fire that he and his wife had to be rescued from, officials say.
Fire officials say flames erupted in a third floor bedroom on Bruckner Boulevard. They say the fire was the result of Abraham Serrano, 51, setting items in his house on fire after getting into an argument with his wife. The couple was trapped inside by the flames.
Firefighters rescued Serrano by taking him out the front window once they got past the window guards. His wife was escorted out of the building and collapsed once she reached the sidewalk, officials say.
Both victims suffer from smoke inhalation, firefighters say.
Serrano has been charged with arson and reckless endangerment.
