Borough residents are fearing the closure of a Norwood resource center threatened by state budget cuts. The West Bronx Housing and Neighborhood Resources Center assists residents in a variety of issues ranging from rent disputes to immigration paperwork. Program employees say they have even stopped 30 evictions since the beginning of the year. State lawmakers are mulling cuts that would slash one-third of the center's funding. Some residents say they adamantly oppose the measure and that they have written letters to Gov. Andrew Cuomo to restore the money. The center has operated in the neighborhood for nearly 35 years.
