A cracked road, broken pipes and a basement leak have one Canarsie restaurant wading through the resulting mess, a manager there says.
Joseph Lopez, of Armando's Kitchen, says the damaged pipes have been seeping sewage for more than three months, and he blames the city for dragging its feet on street repairs.
Outside the Rockaway Parkway business, Lopez says the cracked road rests atop broken, leaky pipes. When it rains, he says they do not hold water -- causing mud, sewage and human waste to flood into the basement.
"It's a tremendous amount of sewage," Lopez says.
The Department of Environmental Protection said it cleared a grease clog from the sewer in the area earlier this year and that it would send a crew to the restaurant to make sure things were draining properly.
