A homeowner from Canarsie received nearly $50,000 in home
repairs as part of a renovation program by the New York City Department of
Housing Preservation and Development.
Cathie Wright-Lewis says the upgrades to her home kept her
from moving.
"My kids are older now, so I was thinking I don't know,
maybe I'll sell," Wright-Lewis say. "It's a whole lot of work, but
they made it a whole lot easier, so I think I'm going to stay around for a
while."
Kim
Darga, of Department of Housing
Preservation and Development, says, "There
was a need for a housing repair program in New York City that could help lower
income households maintain their financial stability."
