A group of concerned residents in Canarsie has formed an anti-violence outreach program after a series of violent crimes in the neighborhood.
Residents joined council members and local clergy in a mission to go out into the community and work at preventing violence. The group says violence has become too common in their neighborhood.
Members of the outreach visit homes and offer counseling and prayers. They say their goal is to address problems in the community.
Group members plan on doing more outreach programs throughout the year.
