A woman in Canarsie says she has been living without a kitchen in her NYCHA apartment for weeks.
Ms. Rios says she has lived inside her apartment in NYCHA'S Breuklen Houses for almost 30 years, but when you walk into her kitchen, it doesn't exist.
"They say they're going to be back, and they never come back," said Ms. Rios.
Her kitchen is missing cabinets, a counter and a sink.
"I had a bad odor coming out of my sink, a lot of flies because it was leaking, a lot of water the wood was damaged," said Rios.
NYCHA employees decided to remove it.
"But they never told me I had to wait three to four months for them to come back," said Rios.
Ms. Rios says she's been he's using her dresser as a cabinet and she has a make shift sink.
"It's hard, you can't have a decent dinner, you can't because I got to go under to get my plates, my pots. Not go and wash my meat, clean my meat, it's hard, I don't have anywhere to put my things at," said Rios.
News 12 reached out to NYCHA about the conditions and it responded with the following statement:
"NYCHA staff visited this unit today and are expediting the necessary repair work. Plastering will begin tomorrow, and new kitchen cabinets will be installed later this week."
