Lance Stephenson, who this week completed a stellar basketball career at a Coney Island high school, appeared in a Brooklyn court Tuesday to face misdemeanor sexual assault charges.
After just a few minutes, a judge adjourned the case against Stephenson until late June. The defense says it is hopeful the charges against Stephenson will be thrown out, but concedes that a guilty verdict could mean up to a six-month sentence.
Stephenson is accused of groping a female student outside Lincoln High School in October of last year.
Stephenson has yet to commit to a college, and some say schools are turned off by his legal troubles and are waiting for the case to be resolved.
