The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is dropping its universal masking
recommendation for nursing homes and hospitals unless they're in areas with
high levels of COVID-19 transmission.
The
CDC says it's making these updates to reflect the high levels of immunity from
vaccines or having already contracted COVID, plus the availability of virus
treatments.
Masks
are still recommended during an outbreak among patients or when caring for immunocompromised
patients.
More
information on updated guidance can be found on the
CDC website.
