The Centers for Disease Control met Tuesday to discuss and ultimately decide that children ages 5 to 11 years old are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Mayor Bill De Blasio has stated that more than 200,000 doses for children have either arrived or are set to arrive and can begin being administered as early as the end of today.
On Tuesday, the mayor said just hours before the announcement that once approval was given that they hoped to have the vaccine for children in that age range available at city-run vaccination sites within 24 hours, and at other vaccination sites within 48 hours.
Gov. Kathy Hochul stated that, “New York will waste no time to help get shots administered, protect our kids, and finally put an end to this pandemic.”
While there is not any available locations for the vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 years old, you can find the nearest vaccination site to you for ages 12 and older here.
