Monday’s stormy weather hit some Bronx families harder than others, including one family whose ceiling caved in their home last week.
Rosa Gomez says she and her kids have been dealing with a caved-in ceiling since last week. They’ve lived at 964 Morris Ave. for 25 years and say that they have seen every problem - from rodents to mold.
Gomez says a pipe above her apartment burst before the ceiling came down in her son’s bedrooms.
“If my child had gotten hurt, it would have been ten times worse,” said Gomez. “I already had my issue with them and all they did was disrespect my mother. If it had been my child? We would have had this conversation in a whole different setting.”
The family has contacted building management multiple times, but Gomez says they continually get sent to other people or extensions that lead to nowhere.
"The only thing I say is I don't have Christmas. It's a mess in the apartment,” said Gomez. “All the water that came down, I tell the lady upstairs to be careful in the bathroom cause she could come down, too.”
The building has over 100 open violations from the city’s Housing Preservation and Development department, with some of them reported earlier this month.
Gomez tells News 12 that management has informed her they would be in her home Tuesday to perform repairs.
