Tenants in a Weeksville Houses apartment say pleas to have their ceiling fixed have fallen on deaf ears, even as they suffer through a partial cave-in during the cold.
Christine Strachan says her bedroom ceiling collapsed February 10, leaving her to suffer through dripping water and freezing temperatures. Strachan believes a 7-year-old leak is to blame. She argues the problem could have been avoided if the superintendent at 1585 Dean St. addressed the issue earlier.
Strachan says repeated calls to the New York City Housing Authority have done little to help because inspectors have failed to show up after setting appointments. Strachan and her family are looking for a new apartment, but she says finding more affordable housing is hard. Meanwhile, the family hopes the five other leaks throughout the apartment don't create a flood of new problems.
