Residents in Bushwick were spreading the word about the
census Saturday in what is typically an undercounted population.
Census data shows that the overall self-response rate for
Kings County is nearly 58%.
Elected officials say that without a complete count of
residents, the city is at risk of losing up to two congressional seats, as well
as funding for schools, hospitals and other critical programs.
Community members marched from Maria Hernandez Park to
Irving Square Park to make people aware that they only have until Oct. 31 to be
counted.
