A ceremony was held at the Wall of Remembrance in MCU Park Tuesday to remember the first responders who lost their lives 17 years ago on Sept. 11.
Firefighters read out the names of 343 men and women in uniform who died in the attack.
The family of firefighter Jeffrey Matthew Palazzo says he was just getting off duty on 9/11 when he heard about the terrorist attacks and rushed to Ground Zero.
They also say that's why they attend this ceremony every single year to honor his memory and the other heroes whose names line the wall.
A bell toll was used to mark the moments planes hit the World Trade Center.
The World Trade Center Health Program says thousands of first responders have developed 9/11-related illnesses, and more than 300 have died as a result of them.
