A charter school in East Flatbush is introducing drones in their curriculum to take their learning to new heights.
Skydio is a drone-making company that brought these drones to the students of Lamad Academy to give them hands-on experience through their Skydio For All program.
"They're not just things you play with they can also help you in the environment." Said Zerah Auguste.
The program teaches students about the drones in the sky and on the ground. The staff explain how to operate and fix drones.
They also explain how professionals like the NYPD, FDNY, and the New York Power Authority use drones, hoping that this propels kids into STEM careers.
"We look at is as industry professionals how can we support educators and the next generations and inspire them and that's why being present and making ourselves available to these communities and schools to talk about what we do and how we use these products to then aspire students to pursue them further." Said Mira Marquez, the program manager at Skydio for all.
