A Brooklyn artist is putting a spin on a traditional band by replacing the musicians with robots.
On Saturday, 40 mechanical musicians rocked out for a performance at the Robotic Church in Red Hook. From drums to chimes, the moving sculptures knew how to bring down the house and work the crowd.
Artist Chico MacMurtrie is the brains behind the operation. He says the key to the performance lies in language, communication and the music itself.
MacMurtie says the robots are connected to a series of tubes that are controlled by computer software.
This is the second year that the event has been held, but the first time that FuturePerfect Productions has also collaborated on the project.
This year's show included new characters and the addition of an organ.
Performances will be held every Saturday and Sunday night until Nov. 2.
