After a windy and chillier fall day Thursday on Long Island, we have a similar day on the way for Friday. The wind gusts will not be as strong though and there will be sunshine mixing with some high clouds at times - overall a nice day.

Keep the outdoor fall plans for the weekend. Both Saturday and most of Sunday look dry. Sunday will be the warmer of the two days with high temperatures in the upper 60s.

Some rain will return late Sunday night and into Monday. There is a chance that the bulk of the rain moves through Monday morning.

We still need more rain on Long Island! Today's update to our local drought monitor shows that, despite the recent nor'easter, a good portion of Long Island remains in a moderate drought.

FORECAST: TONIGHT: Mostly clear, breezy and chilly with lows around 44 degrees. Wind chills will be around 36 to 42 degrees Friday morning thanks to a north-northwest wind around 10 to 20 mph. A few gusts can still approach 30 mph.

FRIDAY: Chilly in the early morning. Mostly sunny with some high clouds at times. Breezy and cool with high temperatures around 62 degrees. Wind: north-northwest 10 to 20 mph. Lows near 45 degrees.

SATURDAY: Mainly sunny to partly cloudy. Sunshine may be filtered by high clouds at times. Highs around 64 degrees. Lows near 52 degrees. SUNDAY: Increasing clouds. A few showers may arrive at night. Highs around 69 degrees. Lows near 53 degrees. MONDAY: Our next best chance for rain. At this point, the best chance of rain looks to be in the morning, but a few showers may linger later. Breezy. Highs around 67 degrees. Lows near 50 degrees.

TUESDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 66 degrees. Lows near 52 degrees. WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with the chance for a few showers. Highs around 67 degrees. Lows around 52 degrees.
