Cyclists will soon have to pay more to use Citi Bike.

According to Lyft, which operates the bikeshare, single ride passes will increase from $4.79 to $4.99. E-bikes will be an extra 38 cents per minute.

"I'm upset. It’s going to be harder to travel now," said James Smith, who uses Citi Bike every week and believes the cost is already too high.

While there won’t be any changes to membership prices, Lyft said the adjustments are designed to keep up with inflation related costs.

"I think it’s obviously a hard system for them to maintain. And they need to make sure financially it’s viable," said Crown Heights resident Laslzo Cyrop. "It can be pricey, but we want to encourage multimodal transportation and improve the transit situation in our city. I think we need to support those programs."

Day passes are set to increase from $19 to $25 in February. Lyft says it's committed to preserving value for its members who use the system the most.
