Red Hook residents recently weighed in on the possibility of the city taking over five piers in Brooklyn.
The city is hoping to acquire piers 7 through 12 from the Port Authority and redevelop the land for other uses. Some ideas city officials have include building a hotel, offices, retail stores and residential development. At a pre-scope meeting held by Community Board 6, Red Hook residents said they wanted the city to include more schools and sources of employment.
The city will hold an official scoping session on October 12 at the Long Island College Hospital. Community Board 6 is expected to present residents? position on the proposed plans then.
