Bus drivers in Brooklyn may one day be sitting behind a protective barrier.
New York City Transit says it has several vendors working on a design prototype for a protective barrier for all buses. The push for added security comes in the wake of the death of bus driver Edwin Thomas, who was stabbed to death while on his Brooklyn bus route in December.
Some bus drivers got a chance to test drive their new rides. Some drivers say the added security will be nice while others say they will miss the one-on-one contact with the riders.
