A City Council panel Monday will be reviewing how safe bridges in the Bronx and the rest of the city are.The City Council Transportation Committee will look at safety procedures and question the agencies in charge of safeguarding the bridges. The hearing will be led by transportation Chairperson John Liu and officials from the MTA, Port Authority and the Department of Transportation are expected to testify.Liu says he is concerned about how repair work is prioritized. He says he is also worried about the discrepancies in federal and state standards for bridge safety.A report last week found that five state bridges have structural issues, but none were in the city. The report said 49 bridges in the state were in good shape.Governor Spitzer (D-NY) ordered the inspection of bridges throughout the city after the bridge collapse in Minnesota on August 1.
