City Council votes yes to Prospect Avenue rezoning

The New York City Council voted yes to the 441 and 467 Prospect Ave. rezoning project, which now means those commercial spaces will become residential buildings.
The Arrow Linen facility located at 441 and 467 Prospect Ave. will now be replaced with two 10-story buildings. The council says it will include 250 new apartments, with 100 units permanently affordable.
In addition, the buildings will have commercial space for a child care center and a domestic violence service provider.
Although, local officials call this a win to help tackle the citywide housing crisis. This proposal, from the start, has sparked a divide.
"It is not easy to find a place to live. I want it to be easier than it currently is." said Alex Weinberg, a local Windsor Terrace resident in favor of the proposal.
"We've been against it from the beginning. We're concerned about is with a very tall building like this is it's going to pave the way for more tall buildings like this. Then what happens is the median rents in this area will go up and up." said Eric Olson, a local resident against the proposal.
At this time, it is unclear when construction will begin.
