New York officials say they have reached an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to build two underground sewage tanks that will help clean the Gowanus Canal.
The tanks will be installed on two pieces of privately owned property at 242 Nevins St. and 234 Butler St.
The 8 million-gallon tank will be placed underground, according to officials, as long as the city can secure the land to commission the $506 million Superfund project.
A public meeting is planned to discuss the issue and will be hosted by the EPA on April 25 at P.S. 32 on Hoyt Street at 6:30 p.m.
