Over 1,000 Brooklyn residents lined up on this chilly Friday in Sunset Park to make sure they would not go hungry tonight.

City Harvest gave away over 40,000 pounds of food there to help fight food insecurity during the holiday season.

According to New York City Council data, the area of Sunset Park is about 20% food insecure. Within the last year, that percentage has only gone up.

Many of those using the City Harvest service on Friday are attributing their needs to inflation.
