The city is offering its new identification cards at a pop-up location in Brownsville for the next month, saving residents a trip downtown.
The ID cards are available at the Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center on Rockaway Avenue until Dec. 23. Organizers say applicants should call ahead to make appointments and should bring a passport or utility bill to prove city residency.
Other pop-up locations have appeared in the borough, but this is the first aimed at serving primarily East New York and Brownsville.
Within the first year of the card's introduction, about 600,000 people have signed up. The card includes perks, like museum admissions, but its main purpose is providing a photo ID for undocumented individuals, according to officials.
Anyone at least 14 years old is eligible.
