According to the city, 1.2 million New Yorkers were food insecure as of 2022.
Food insecurity is defined as lacking access to affordable and nutritious food. Daniel Humm, the chef at Eleven Madison Park, says he’s working to be a part of the solution.
Humm has reimagined food distribution through his nonprofit Rethink Food.
“Food is just such a powerful thing,” said Humm. “As we started this work, it just brought a lot of joy and happiness… I know that the work really matters.”
Rethink Food is serving up food seven days a week in New York City. Click here to learn more and see how you can donate.
