Local officials and mental health professionals are noticing a big impact from the recent Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview.
During the couple’s interview with Oprah, Markle revealed a struggle with mental health issues while pregnant.
First lady Chirlane McCray tweeted out her gratitude to Markle, saying in part: “While it was painful to hear your story, your experience will help break down the barriers that have stopped so many from reaching out.”
Licensed medical health counselor Sonya Davie says it gives the public a sigh of relief when a public figure speaks out about mental health.
She says even with the awareness that is given to mental health, there are still people who don’t have their emotional health taken seriously.
