Around 6,000 New York City kids are spending their summer outdoors, taking part in a wide variety of sports and activities thanks to the City Parks Foundation's Play Program.
The program started its second week on Monday. It focuses on bringing fun summer activities right to the local parks of kids across the five boroughs.
“Sports in general have gotten more expensive through the years,” said Jonathan Gamberg, the City Parks Foundation’s director of operations. “Tennis, golf, even soccer and track and field… some of the global sports and basic sports are very expensive.”
