Help is on the way for cyclists looking for somewhere safe to store their bikes.
The city is implementing a new secure bike parking program.
Later this year, the Department of Transportation plans to start installing 500 storage units to safely house bikes across the five boroughs. Residents say the program will be a huge help since they already struggle for space in their apartments.
"A lot of people in our building would use that for sure, because they have to bring it down to the basement now," said one cyclist. "That's a flight downstairs and it's kind of narrow, so it would be easier to have it on the street for sure."
Right now, the agency is asking the public to weigh in on what locations would be best for the units.
Officials say the program will allow more New Yorkers to own bikes without fear that they don't have space to keep them.
