City's DSNY preps for winter season, unpredictable weather conditions across the boroughs

Mother Nature can be unpredictable, so the city's Department of Sanitation is making sure it is prepared to keep New Yorkers safe in any weather event.
With 700 million pounds of salt already on hand, constant training and new technology, like the "Blade-Runner 2.0" is essential.
The department adds that preparing to serve every part of the city is a year-round affair.
"The actual greatest snow fighting tool in our city is the people of the sanitation department," said DSNY Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
News 12's Elly Morillo gives viewers an inside look on their snow- fighting equipment and has more on what they call an all year-round affair.
