A clone of a Callery pear tree that lived through the destruction at Ground Zero during the 9/11 attacks will make its way today to Middletown, where 37 lives were lost in the terror attacks.
The tree became known as the “survivor tree," and in the years following the attacks, seedlings from the tree were given across the world to areas recovering from tragedy.
This marks the first time an actual clone grown from a branch of the tree will be placed outside of New York.
