After
three weeks of testimony and cross-examination, closing arguments began today
for two alleged gang leaders accused of causing the death of 15-year-old Lesandro
"Junior" Guzman Feliz.
Prosecutors
told jurors during their final argument that alleged gang leaders Diego Suero
and Frederick Then gave orders to kill that resulted in the death of Feliz.
The defendant’s lawyers attacked the credibility of the prosecution’s key
witnesses.
Both
Suero and Then are charged with murder, manslaughter and gang
assault in the killing of Feliz in June of 2018.
The
jury will receive instructions from the judge before deliberations begin
tomorrow. If convicted, Suero and Then will face sentences of 25 years to life
in prison.
