? A Cobble Hill high school has taken a unique approach to stop name calling by posting derogatory words right on the walls.
Principal Lisa Gibbs says she knew she took a risk when she allowed the High School for Global Studies to be the first Brooklyn school to participate in the nationwide ?no name calling? week. Students feel it?s a good idea because it?s made them think twice about using words they?ve used before. The stickers take aim at race, sexual preference and other issues. Critics complain the program is too controversial.
The Department of Education says it did not have to approve the stickers because the school paid for them to be printed.
