Movie buffs and cocktail lovers will feel right at home at Cinemixology Room, a hidden gem in Williamsburg that turns your favorite films into drinks.
The speakeasy bar offers a multisensory experience from the moment you walk in. Silent films flicker on the walls, movie soundtracks play in the background and the smell of fresh popcorn fills the air. Even the cocktail menu is tucked inside books about cinema, giving guests the sense that they’ve stepped onto a movie set.
“It’s an experience full of senses,” said Bassel Shihab, the bar’s creator and mixologist.
Shihab moved to New York from Damascus, Syria, in 2015 during the war.
A former interior designer and lifelong film fan, Shibah uses iconic scenes and characters as the inspiration behind each drink.
Cinemixology Room also hosts screenings and theme nights.
Guests can pitch a movie they believe deserves its own cocktail. If chosen, they’ll be invited back to try the drink for free.
