OVERNIGHT: It will remain breezy overnight with 20 to 25 mph gusts. The combination of the wind, dry air, direct sun and dry ground have been the perfect recipe for rapid fire spread.
WEDNESDAY: The fire weather warning in New York City has been extended through 6 p.m. Wednesday. Actual low temperatures will dip down to the middle 30s for the Wednesday morning commute. With the wind, it will feel like the upper 20s. Make sure to have heavy winter jackets out the door and keep the jackets all day long. Feels-like temperatures will be stuck in the lower 40s at best at 3 p.m.
REST OF THE WEEK: Thursday's storm will stay south of the area, meaning dry conditions likely prevail from now through this upcoming weekend. Fire risk will remain elevated as a result and could grow to near-record highs if warmer temperatures, sunny skies and breezy conditions will occur as currently forecast.
