A communication mishap led to a protest by parents and students outside the Medgar Evers Preparatory School today.

School officials say the incident started on Friday when the school principal received a call from the Department of Education (DOE), saying the school's Summer Enrichment Program was relocating to Paul Robeson High School.

Parents and students disapproved of the move, spending the day today protesting in front of Medgar Evers. The DOE tried to calm parents and students down, saying there was a misunderstanding and that the program was not relocating.

While parents are happy the program isn't moving, they say the students are not receiving credit because the DOE does not have Medgar Evers listed as a summer school site.

Councilwoman Letitia James stated she is planning on having a meeting with the school chancellor to voice the concerns of the parents and teachers.
