The peace and prayer rally took place on Sterling Place, the street where 40-year-old Lavel Fraiser was fatally shot on Sunday.

Leaders of the rally came together to help heal the mourning community and to bring people together to put a stop to the violence.

"People need to understand that this senseless violence is having an effect on the children and the community, and we have to preserve the mindset and the growth and development of the children in the community,” said Rev. Taharka Robinson, of the 77th Precinct Community Council.
